EDO TRAGEDY: Score Burnt in Tanker Fire on Independence Day

On the 63rd anniversary of Nigeria independence, Ologbo, Edo state has been thrown into mourning following a fuel tanker explosion that has claimed more than thirty lives.

folksafrica gathered that a tanker laden with about thirty thousand liters of fuel exploded between the Ologbo and Koko-Ugbenu roads in Edo and Delta States respectively.


Eye witness narrated that the incident occurred around 1pm in the afternoon trapping many who are running their businesses.

The Delta State Police Command confirmed the incident.

The police also confirmed that eight buses, two tankers, five trailers, two cars and one motorcycle were razed.

The command’s spokesperson, DSP Bright Edafe, disclosed this in a press statement made available to journalists in Warri on Sunday.

Some youth reportedly looted goats contained in a trailer affected by the incident while trying to run for safety.
